Loyd's BONUS AUDIO goodies!!--- # 3!!!--- 4 faves from Mercyme!!!--
Boy-HOWDY, was it tough!!! whittling down my choices to JUST four all-time favorite tunes from this GREAT Christian band!! SO MANY great albums, SO MANY great songs!!! BUT--- I managed to stick to the program, and here are the choices for my 'top four'!!! From basically the years 2004 - 2014. Take it away gentlemen!!!---
If your toes weren't tapping, fingers-a-snapping, and head-boppin', throughout these tunes, as I ALWAYS say-- congratulations!!-- YOUR'E DEAD!!!
Seriously though, this band is right up there in the TOP four or five christian artists that have become my absolute favorites, over the past 10 years or so!! Lead-man Bart Millard and company have a way of putting together not ONLY catchy, rockin' little pop-flavored tunes--- BUT, it's also music with the ULTIMATE positive message wrapped-up inside!! Truly GOOD stuff indeed!!!
Seek out pretty much ANY or ALL of their albums of the past decade-and-a-half or so (they've released seven, not counting 'Greatest hits' collections, AND a couple of Christmas albums--- BOTH pretty good!---since 2004. their latest, 'Lifer' came out in early 2017.)--- you will ABSOLUTELY be glad you did!!!

A tale of two posters!---
As I was proudly saying a while back--- I'm a BIG fan of 'ol Bogie--Humphrey Bogart, that is!! For MANY years, I've owned TWO very NIFTY (reproduced, of COURSE--I'm NO millionare!!!) posters, featuring a couple of his finest films--- 'Casablanca', and 'The Maltese Falcon'. Here's what the '...Falcon' poster I originally bought (back in--'GASP'!!-- 1984) looks like.----
Yes, it's a bit 'dog-eared'!!! That's what happens when you move a poster around with you for 35 years or so!!! Here's the thing though..... COOL as the poster is (it just SCREAMS: 'crime drama' / 'film noir', doesn't it???)---- something's ALWAYS seemed a little 'off' about it!!!
Look close at the image of Bogie in the poster. If your'e familiar with a number of his movies (like, shameless GEEK-A-ZOID little 'ol Loydster is, for example!!)--- you can see that this particular image of Mr. Bogart, is in fact from the movie 'High Sierra'!!! The close-cropped hair-cut (which he sported in that movie!) gives it away!!
So.... recently having decided to move / change-out some posters in the area leading up to my 'hide-out' / 'secret sanctum', I went on a bit of a quest. Just to see if I could maybe dig up a 'more accurate' version of a poster for this, one of my ALL-TIME favorite 'Bogie-flicks'!!! 'The Maltese Falcon' NEEDED to be on display out in the stairwell--- in the COOLEST version possible!!
MAN-OH-MAN!! Did I discover a whole OTHER set of really odd-ball posters for this film!! While scanning through Amazon alone, I found 4 DIFFERENT versions!! ALL of which, used images of Bogie---- from EARLIER movies!!! (weird!!!!) Including one using an image from his 'break-through' film 'The Petrified forest'--- made nearly TEN years before 'The Maltese Falcon'!!! (Again---weird!!!)
At ANY rate, here's the one that really jumped out and grabbed me!! Once AGAIN, it's apparent--- the image of Bogie is obviously from an earlier flick. He looks a little on the younger side, than the way he ACTUALLY looks in the film!! But, still--- THIS one SCREAMS 'crime drama' even LOUDER than my previous poster!!!---
The only thing I can figure happened here (outside of the fact that multiple versions of posters for this movie were done, that was pretty common back then!!), was that Mr. Bogart was still on his way to becoming a regular 'lead' actor at the time '...Falcon' was made / released. Not a lot of 'up-to-date' publicity stills / images of his mug may have been available at the time.... so the studio art department worked with what they had.
I guess looking at it in that light, some of those odd-ball posters are pretty cool after all!!! (jump over to Amazon and scan through some of them, to see what I mean!!)
AND--- here's the framed article, proudly hanging up in the stairwell--- just as it SHOULD be!!!

Building a 'Superhero portrait'--- piece-by-piece!!! (circa 2007 or so!!)
This is ALL possible, thanks to the 'ol Loydster NEVER throwing stuff away!! Here we have a little peek 'behind the scenes',on just how a particular 'art project' came together. It's also proof positive of how SLOW and nit-picky I could be as I worked on this kind of stuff!!
A number of years back, I created this 'portrait'-type drawing, of Superman and Batman. This was for my nephews--- who were, and STILL ARE--- major superhero fanatics!----
First, the fully-inked drawing of 'Supes was done--- all on tracing-paper. This was done, so I could over-lap it onto the second drawing--- to see just where the characters would be in the best position in relation to each other.
Next up, the 'Bats drawing, again on tracing paper, fully inked.
NOW we're REALLY rockin'!!! After figuring out the positions I wanted the characters to be in, I made photocopies of both 'tracing paper' drawings, and 'spliced' the two together (AND added in Batman's Bat-rope!)!!! I don't remember which one (hey, this WAS nearly 12 YEARS ago!!), but I remember having to reduce one of the characters a little, so they would BOTH be relatively the same size. Next, the final couple of steps!!---
One more photocopy (so the drawings would both be on one FLAT piece of paper, instead of 3 sheets all glued together, as they were at the point just before this!!), some hand-coloring with colored pencils and markers, and---'WHAM'!! One portrait of the 'World's Finest' team!!! All ready to send off to my nephews!!
Although I very seldom take up pencil, ink pen and markers anymore (BOTH because I was SO dog-gone SLOW at this kind of thing, and I just DO NOT have the time & energy to devote to it like I used to!!) I'm still pretty proud of how this particular one turned out!!! Hey, it's my TWO favorite 'Super-characters', EVER!!! What's NOT to like!!!???
